A new dawn, a new begining.............

Yesterday evening saw Blackpool and Wyre Karate Ryu's last training session at their Poulton Le Fylde Dojo at the YMCA, which as previously reported is going to be re-developed by the properties owners into office space.
This move by the YMCA has not only affected the Karateka who have trained here for several decades, but other associations and classes who also use this community facility.
Street dance classes and others are also desperately looking for alternative accommodation to allow them to continue into the future.
What this does mean for Blackpool and Wyre Karate Ryu, is that new premises have been secured in recent weeks by ongoing work behind the scenes to secure the clubs future by senior Karateka.

As of Tuesday the 12th June 2012, the club will be moving to St Chads Church Hall, which is located on Vicarage road, within the town centre of Poulton Le Fylde.
For those not familiar with the area, the hall is located directly opposite to the Residence night club

Training times are as follows:
Tuesdays: 7.30pm-9.30pm (Juniors 7.30pm-9pm)
Thursdays 7pm-9pm (Juniors 7pm-8.30pm)

Sunday's stretching and flexibility sessions are to continue at the YMCA from 10.30am-11.30am, however this will now take place in the main building on the first floor above reception.

As Sensei Ron Bellwood highlighted last night, the new facility for weekday training is adequate at this time for our needs, but not ideal.
On this basis, facilities which fully suit our needs are yet to be identified and if you have an idea of suitable premises, let us know.
